An organic certification is granted to agricultural or food producers to guarantee to the consumer that the products are produced organically. In addition, they have gone through a control process, which guarantees the organic quality of what they produce according to the corresponding regulations and according to the destination market where that product will be sold.
It allows farmers to differentiate their products from conventional products. In addition, it allows access to international markets.
The European organic certification is based on the Standards of organic production, created by the European Economic Community. This certificate is necessary to export organic production to Europe.
USDA organic certification is based on the Organic Production Standards for the USA. This certificate is required to export organic production to the USA.
This is an organic regime applied to food, plants and animals for Canada.
